Our Heritage
In 1948, Polito Rivero founded Rivero Funeral Homes in Havana, Cuba. Mr. Rivero grew that business into one of the largest funeral homes in Cuba.
In 1963, Mr. Rivero’s business was taken by the communist Cuban government and Mr. Rivero and his family exiled to Miami, Florida, where he again began serving the newly exiled Cuban community.
In 1965, Mr. Rivero opened Rivero Funeral Homes in Miami, Florida. By 1993, Rivero Funeral Homes had expanded to 3 locations and became one of the largest funeral homes in the Southeastern United States. In 1994, Rivero Funeral Homes was sold.
In 1997, Mr. Rivero and his grandsons, Eric and Miguel Maspons, opened Maspons Funeral Home in Miami, Florida. Maspons Funeral Home has expanded to 2 locations in South Florida and is now one of the largest volume funeral homes in the area. As a lifelong funeral director, Mr. Rivero served families in need for over 50 years. Mr. Rivero passed away on August 30, 2006. His commitment to the families that he served will serve as his legacy.
